Lyle Ward (far Left) listens as Grand Master Philip A. Lorenzen1 dedicates a bronze plaque (image of Lyle's Wife) as a memorial to the West Omaha Masonic Temple. Lyle F. Ward donated half the cost of the new elevator. Lyle met his wife July 10th 1944 when she was an elevator operator at 1504 Dodge Street in downtown Omaha. The Marine Corps Recruiting Office was in the same building, that is where Lyle worked (could not have guessed that!). Lyle's wife Yvonne died November 9th 1998. The gift was a wonderful tribute to not only a fine woman; but also to Lyle, a very giving Mason. The other half of the funds came from a grant and from the fraternal bodies (that share the building) and from other fine masons.
We all have a lot to be grateful for. We are humbled by the goodness of a very giving man who happens to be a Mason: Worshipful Brother Lyle F. Ward, Master 1990.
1Grand Master February 2001-February 2002 Nebraska
Lyle will be missed by all those who ever had the opportunity or good fortune to meet him. Lyle was a very giving person, not only helping those less fortunate, but giving special guidance or a special surprise or unannounced visit, or just a kind word to make one’s day.

Lee Terry worked for me!
Those of us who had the opportunity to listen to these stories
usual found a wise moral truth that could be applied to one's own life.
Lyle loved to flirt with the waitresses, nurses, managers, doctors, nieces,
young old, any woman who he wanted to bring a little tasteful joy to.
He blamed his compulsive flirting on his Marine background.
Lyle loved his wife's Boston terrier, his little black squirrel, Toby the neighbor's dog and birds that become loyal to his routine backdoor feedings. He also loved his Republican Party.
On a personal basis,
In my darkest hour Lyle was there, he reestablished my faith in God and in my fellow man. He taught me how to deal with life when I felt like giving up, he taught me how to rekindle a love torn by illness by relating his most confidential experiences which allowed me to build my life and family again.
This kindness does not stop there, his family, bothers and sisters, nieces and nephews are all tempered by the same integrity and principles that they so graciously extended to my family to enjoy and share memories.
Lyle and Yvonne were Grand Friends (to my children who did not have Grand Parents). They came to enjoy concerts and the drawings and coached my children when my children needed advice.
Lyle we will all miss you and we know you are happy to finally be with Yvonne.
